Jessica Shaw, MS, LPC, NCC
Psychotherapist. Educator. A creative perspective on human connection.
[Master’s of Science, Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor]
Mental health shapes how we live, relate, create, and move through change. Jessica Shaw brings clinical experience, community engagement, and a passion for photography and visual storytelling to making those conversations more accessible.
As the founder of Modern Wellness, Jessica supports adolescents, adults, and families through counseling and educational programming. Her broader vision connects mental health with the places people already gather—from communities and classrooms to athletic organizations and creative spaces.
Experience grounded in people
Since founding Modern Wellness in 2018, Jessica has combined psychotherapy with practice leadership, educational programming, and collaboration with families, schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
From 2023 to 2024, she taught undergraduate psychopathology at Mount Mary University, connecting psychological theory with practical clinical experience.
Her earlier work spans community mental health, addiction services, housing support, and post-booking stabilization. As a U.S. Navy contractor, she led educational programs in parenting, suicide prevention, relationships, and conflict resolution.
Jessica holds a Master of Science in Community Counseling from Mount Mary University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from St. Norbert College. She is a Wisconsin Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor.
Life Beyond Sports
Identity. Connection. Possibility.
An athletic career is one part of a person’s story. Relationships, purpose, belonging, and identity continue to evolve during competition and beyond it.
Life Beyond Sports is a developing initiative exploring these experiences through facilitated conversations, photography, and visual storytelling, with a particular interest in male athletes.
Potential collaborations include:
Groups and workshops exploring identity, relationships, pressure, and transitions during and after an athletic career.
Portrait and storytelling projects that reveal the person behind the public image.
Film and media collaborations bringing a mental health perspective to stories of achievement, change, and connection.
Community conversations and exhibits that invite broader participation in mental health dialogue.
Speaking & Creative Partnerships
Jessica welcomes conversations with athletic organizations, foundations, filmmakers, photographers, producers, and community partners nationwide.
Areas of interest include group facilitation, educational speaking, mental health consultation for creative projects, and visual storytelling.
A personal commitment
As a single mother of three,
Jessica’s commitment to mental health is personal:
stronger families,
meaningful relationships,
and more connected communities.
